Fairtrade Fortnight 2012
Press Release: Fairtrade Falmouth: Fairtrade Fortnight 25th Feb 2012
Falmouth is now in its seventh year as a Fairtrade Town and to celebrate the Fairtrade Falmouth Team have started the local events for Fairtrade Fortnight by holding a Mad Hatters Fairtrade Tea Party on The Moor last Saturday 25th Feb.
The Tea Party was to highlight the availability of Fairtrade bananas and chocolate and the need to make sure that the growers are paid fair wages. The public were invited to join the party by choosing a ‘mad hat’, making up a slogan for Fairtrade and having their photo taken with the Mad Hatter and her helpers.
Rachel Lay of the Fair Trade Falmouth team said
“Fairtrade is a serious issue but we wanted to make sure people could support it in an informative but fun way”.
