Incredible Edible Penryn
Owner: Karen
Group members: 4
Description:
A community project to encourage Penryn residents to grow their own vegetables, share produce and buy locally grown food.
We want to see fruit and vegetables, herbs and edible flowers growing in planters on the main street, at the bus stop, outside the Town Hall and in any unused areas of ground. The produce will be there to share – to see, smell and taste when you are on your way home or popping out to the shops.
It doesn’t take big things to create big changes - it takes small things that capture the imagination.
The idea is based on ‘Incredible Edible Todmorden’. Todmorden is a small, market town in Yorkshire, where they started in just this simple way and four years later, they have developed the project so far, that they are now aiming to be totally self-sufficient by 2018.
Anyone can get involved - in whatever way you feel able. You don’t need to have green-fingers or even know the difference between broad beans and baked beans! We need people to grow a few seeds, dig, plant, make signs, spread the word, be creative, make suggestions – anything you can offer! As they say in Todmorden “If you eat, you’re in.”
Thursday 21st March 2013 - 7.30pm - Seed Swap and Public Meeting at Penryn Town Hall
Please come along to share ideas and help us form a plan of action.
.... and bring seeds to swap!
