Archive Films event comes to Fal River Festival

West Cornwall based awen productions cic will be turning back time once again with their  Tre Project – Rediscovering Cornwall and Isles of Scilly through Archive Film at this years Fal River Festival on Fri 31 May at Falmouth WI Webber Street and in Port Isaac Village Hall on Thurs 6 June screening beautiful archive films.

Barbara Santi, director of awen productions, explains “Tre is a Cornish word for home/homestead.  We’ve toured our archive film programme across Cornwall in village halls and festivals and we are pleased to be this years ‘artist in residence’ for the Fal River Festival.  We’re doing something different for this event as we will be making a short film about an aspect of Falmouth’s history using archive material which will be premiered at a special screening during the festival.”

The programme will include rare archive films from as early as 1904 of Falmouth and surrounding areas and will also feature new locally made Cornish shorts.

This event which is supported by Truro & Penwith College Fal River Festival as well as regular funders Heritage Lottery, Feast and Cornwall Community Foundation will have donations going towards inclusive dance theatre company Shallal.

Sounds like a great project. Suggest creating a "group" for it here on Falmouth Alive, and blogging about it from the group, as individual blog posts are hard to find once pushed off the front page.
